What Is PBAT?

PBAT is a biodegradable random copolymer. It is short for Polybutylene Adipate Terephthalate. This long version is quite difficult to say so we used to call it simply by PBAT.

In order to solve fossil resources and environmental pollution problems associated with conventional plastics, this fully biodegradable plastics was born. In e-commerce packaging, PBAT is used as an essential part of compositions in compostable mailing satchels.

Conventional plastics will lead to great pollution to our landfill. Traditional solution for addressing this issue will be recycling plastics and recycled plastics. But we can not recover all plastics by recycling facility and after several times, plastics will not be able to be recycled again. It will eventually need to be burnt or buried in land and do harm to our landfill. In this situation, a biodegradable plastics can be an effective way to solve this problem.

PBAT is always added into compostable bags to add flexibility. It can be used in e-commerce compostable shipping satchels, ziplock bags, peel and seal garment bags, compostable shopping bags, t-shirt bags, dog-poop bags, compostable trash bags, agricultural film, food storage bags, etc.

Knowing more about these eco-friendly ingredients can be the first step for us to move towards a sustainable life.
